I love the internet and how wonderfully small and infinitely vast it has made my world. On a random Google image search — I don’t now recall what I was orignially looking for — this image was returned to me. I was awed. The simplicity and complexity, geometric forms and positive and negative spaces are wonderful. There is something very peaceful and perfect about this piece: Something that I love. After a few more mouse clicks, I learned that it is a screenprint by Gordon Walters (1919-1995), a New Zealand painter, printmaker and designer. Before this random search result, I was completely unfamiliar with Walters work: I can’t wait to see what else I find now that I know what he has left behind! Enjoy!

Jo Eagle added these pithy words on Feb 13 08 at 5:48 pmHi Heather - welcome to the wonderful work of Walters. I too love this work - you should also do a google on Nzer Peter Robinson and if you are not already a fan…look at Bridget Riley from UK. All VERY interesting, inspirational to my high school students and fantastic to enjoy!
