The excitement and anxiety contained within this day is palpable, and it’s only 2 in the afternoon! I’ve found myself continually checking CNN.com, half hoping that somehow the election results are going to begin showing up there already — It’s going to be a long afternoon at this rate. The lengthy lines haven’t seemed to deter people or sour their moods: This race has become about people and today more than ever they are willing to wait their turn for their voice to be heard.
So, once the polls close and CNN does begin to tally up those numbers, also check out Chicago Public Radio’s Polling Place Photo Project. Local photographers are documenting today’s Election events in Chicagoland: the people, the polling places, party headquarters and even Grant Park. The images will be included in WBEZ’s live coverage tonight.
Until then, enjoy the entire race one image, one day at a time at The Stumping Grounds.
