Hold on, hold on, this is a new variation on what you’ve seen on the blog circuit…
Detroit’s had a rough go of it for a while now, the last year being particularly harsh as the rest of the country began to feel what Michiganders had been feeling for some time: Money is tight, jobs are hard to come by, homes are being foreclosed upon and the immediate future is offering little hope for a swift turnaround.
Given all of that, Detroiters have a resilient strength about them that makes this “re-imagining” of the 1939 Bristish WW2 poster by Bureau of Urban Living quite fitting. The crown of King George VI that was displayed on the original propaganda art with the words “Keep Calm and Carry On” has been replaced by the iconic Spirit of Detroit statue.
Detroiters, things will get better, and until then, keep being you…

Reprints of the original 1939 British propaganda poster can be purchased here.
