As I’ve mentioned in previous posts, I’m an olympic junkie every time the games roll around, and even in the off months when a bit of the upcoming cities’ visual identities are released: medals, mascots, way-finding, event logos, structures… there’s so many design bits and pieces that have to come together that it really is a remarkable showing of teamwork.
So, after London released their horrendous olympic logo, I wasn’t sure I wanted to see what the rest of their graphics would be… But, if Alan Clarke’s Olympic posters proposal for the Transport of London are any indication (Please say that they are!), at least some of the accompanying pieces will be fantastic! The fields of flat color are gorgeous and the gradated geometric shapes tell the story of movement within each sport in a simple, yet beautiful way.
Thank you, Design Crush for the post and Ministry of Type for further information on these finds. And thank you, Mr. Clarke for returning some of my faith in British Design!
