For many of the ladies I know, myself included, February 2009 will be remembered as the month that reknowned Irish designer Orla Kiely came to Target.
Personally, I have searched, on-line and in-person, all of Chicagoland for that darn elusive 2-Tier Tray, to no avail… I did however pick up a set of dish towels, the oven mit and a reuasble shopping bag. Once I got home and after the initial giddiness of scoring a few pear-patterned pieces on the cheap wore off a bit, I noticed how nice the details were, and I’m not referring to the fabrics or stitching, which are both quite nice, I’m talking about the hang tags!
The plastic hook is of a thicker cream-colored plastic and sports Orla’s signature four-petal bloom at the base. The type is gorgeously simple and clean, just as her patterns are. Even the barcode on the reusable bag has been touched (though this may be compliments of Target’s reuasble bag line).
Bottomline, thank you Orla Kiely (and Target) for reminding everyone that patterns do not have to be elaborate to be wonderful and for minding the details, down to the barcodes — They really are the cherry on the sundae, or should I say the pear? Sorry, sorry…
Enjoy!
