Over the past two years, I’ve taken to cooking at home (be it mine or a friend’s) a lot more and it’s fantastic! It began with Wednesday night dinner parties to watch Project Runway, which evolved in to Tuesday night dinner and board game nights, and since September’s economic downturn and my move, it’s morphed in to me experimenting with at least one new-to-my-kitchen meal a week — last week’s was a delicious soba noodle dish paired with broiled black-pepper tofu and dipping sauce, courtesy of Martha. YUM.
So, given this new-found enjoyment for cooking, I was overly pleased when I came across The Way We Wear’s etsy shop featuring aprons inspired from vintage patterns with modern twists. Shauna Lofy, owner and fabulous seamstress, sews aprons in “Retro-Chic” styles from the 1920’s, 40’s and 50’s, while using current fabrics (Amy Butler = Swoon).
I recently picked out the yellow and grey 1920s Flapper Apron for a close friend’s, and fellow designer’s, bridal shower. The detailing of the stitching is fantastic. And the overall construction of the pieces is top notch. I couldn’t have been happier and she loved it!
Happy, and fashionable, cooking!!!
Vintage inspired aprons, mother and daughter aprons and oven mits are available for purchase at The Way We Wear on etsy.
